Official Release: Division
III Cup Standings (Dec. 23)
“We are very proud of our student-athletes..for them to take their passion and see it reflected on a national level is very exciting,” said CLU Athletic Director Dan Kuntz. “Much of the credit needs to be given to our coaches. They help provide an environment and the tools to achieve success on a national level.”
Despite Cal Lutheran being recognized for its athletic programs, Kuntz is aware that it would not have been possible without the support of the entire University.
“With the new facilities and the
support of the CLU community towards the athletic programs and facilities has
played a major role in helping our school be seen on a national level not only
for athletics but all aspects as an institution.”
Cal Lutheran leads a group of four Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC) institutions that earned points during the fall season.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps currently ranks 49th, Redlands 77th and Whittier 180th.
CLU currently sponsors six of the seven programs recognized with three earning points for the institution. Volleyball garnered the most points after reaching the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
Regals soccer provided 50 points
with a spot in the second round of the postseason and Kingsmen football contributed
25 after earning its second playoff appearance in as many years.
Washington (MO) University currently leads the standings with 336 points
featuring five programs in the top-17 and a pair of top-three finishers. Cal
Lutheran has scored 139 points.
