Regals Wrap Up Season at NCAA Division III Cross Country West Regional

CLAREMONT, Calif. – This morning at the 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country West Regional meet hosted by Pomona-Pitzer, Cal Lutheran combined to finish 17th as a team in the final race of the fall.

As she has done in every race for the Regals this season, junior Sarah Parsons paced the group during the 6K, clocking a time of 24:15.42 as the 60th runner to cross the finish line.

A trio of sophomores followed in the next three positions. Katie Young continues to improve in each race and today climbed up to the second CLU spot, finishing in a time of 25:30.40, which was her fastest 6K time of the year. The third harrier home was Hannah Yoho who was just three spots back in 25:34.30 and Tera Beyerlein notched a time of 25:40.31.

Nine seconds later, Erin Knight completed her first West Regional race in 25:49.76.

Rounding out the seven Regals runners today were Sarah Girgis (26:23.19) and Kylie Rodriguez (27:05.95).

The individual champion was Pomona-Pitzer junior and SCIAC champion Maya Weigel who was one of five runners to break the 22-minute mark. She won by over 21 seconds in 21:24.98.

Willamette edged Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for the team title and both squads will compete in the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 21 in Winneconne, Wisc.

Cal Lutheran returns its entire roster for the 2016 season.
