Regals Open SCIAC Competition

LA MIRADA, Calif. – The first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) meet of the season was an important one as the Cal Lutheran women’s cross country team toed the line against all eight other schools in the league at the 2014 Multi-Duals at La Mirada Park this afternoon.

CLU combined to go 4-4 with team victories over Caltech, Chapman, La Verne and Whittier.

Running as a duo throughout the course, Taelor Young and Sarah Parsons crossed the line in back-to-back positions for 23rd and 24th, respectively. Young paced the Regals team by recording a time of 23:12.64 while sophomore teammate Parsons posted a 23:18.06 showing.

Suiting up for just the second time of the season after being sidelined with an injury, senior Amanda Miller was the third Regals harrier to score by clocking a 23:24.61.Kendahl Waalk also broke the 24-minute mark and was the fourth finisher for Cal Lutheran as she ran a time of 23:48.37.

In the first 6K of her career, Hannah Yoho was certainly challenged, but produced a time of 24:24.17 to represent the final scoring place for CLU today.

Rounding out the Regals in the meet today were Sarah Girgis (25:41.89), Brieanna Luna (26:36.81), Katie Young (26:36.87) and Lauren Chrislu (28:30.86).  Luna and Young were stride-for-stride from start to finish and nearly notched identical times.  

Cal Lutheran will use two weeks to prepare for the 2014 SCIAC Championships to be held at Prado Park on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 9:45 a.m.
