PASADENA, Calif. – After a third place finish at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships and qualifying for the 2013 NCAA Division III West Regionals, the Cal Lutheran women’s cross country had four student-athletes named to the SCIAC All-Academic Team announced Tuesday. Senior Natalie Bullock and juniors Amanda Miller, Chantal White and Taelor Young were all selected to the academic team honoring the top student-athletes in the conference.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at her current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at that institution and must have reach sophomore athletic eligibility.
In her final season for the Regals, Bullock was CLU’s third best finisher at the West Regionals as she came in 51st in a time of 23:53.02. At the SCIAC Championships, Bullock helped Cal Lutheran to its best team finish in program history while finishing 20th individually. The 2013 Second Team All-SCIAC honoree is also a member of the track & field team and a biology major.
Miller enjoyed a breakout junior season of the Regals in 2013. At the SCIAC Championships, Miller improved more than 30 seconds from her 2012 race as she completed the course in a time of 25:10.16. Earlier in the season, Miller helped Cal Lutheran to a fourth place finish during the SCIAC Multi-Duals, clocking a season-best time of 23:29.94. Off the course, Miller is a biology major and has been inducted into the CLU Scholar-Athlete Society each of the past two years.
White was a solid contributor for the Regals in 2013. The junior from Freeland, Wash. had a season-best time of 25:28.39 at the SCIAC Multi-Duals. Already a two-time inductee of the CLU Scholar-Athlete Society, White continues to pursue a degree in biology while minoring in communications.
Young continued to be one of CLU’s top runners this past fall as she narrowly missed out on All-SCIAC honors, finishing 21st at the SCIAC Championships. Her time of 24:42.31 at the conference championships was nearly a full minute faster than her 2012 race. In the classroom, Young is majoring in biology and she has been inducted into the CLU Scholar-Athlete Society in both 2012 and 2013.
Earlier this spring, all four members helped Cal Lutheran earn a spot on the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s All-Academic Team list.
