NEW ORLEANS, La. – In the first official NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Regional Poll the Regals were ranked fifth by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
A strong opening week performance from the Regals proved their abilities on the course this fall. CLU placed third among 13 teams at the ASICS/UCI Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7. Melissa Skiba placed second among all runners with a 5K time of 18:17.2. Ashley Frese, Natalie Bullock, Sarah Parsons and Taelor Young all scored in the meet for the Violet and Gold as well.
Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe Claremont-Mudd-Scripps maintained the top spot, followed by Willamette, Whitworth and Lewis & Clark before the Cal Lutheran squad. Rounding out the top-10 are Pomona-Pitzer, Linfield, Colorado College, Occidental and UC Santa Cruz.
Cal Lutheran will compete for the second time in 2013 on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Mustang Invitational hosted by The Master’s College at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif. The women’s race is set to begin at 8:15 a.m.
